Finn cleared the last of the dishes from the dinner rush and carted them into the kitchen for Tandy, laughing when she asked if he'd been demoted to busser.

That chore done, he headed back into the bar to do a walk around, checking with those in the game room and those at the tables and booths scattered around the bar area. He joked with a few of the regulars and greeted the faces he couldn't remember seeing before taking his position behind the bar again.

Leaning against the back counter, he surveyed his pub and couldn't help the smile that formed. For as much flak as he'd received from his family over his choosing such a small town when he finally struck out on his own, he really did love the town. The atmosphere was open, accepting, and the sheer fact that he could use his abilities without causing the National Enquirer to drop onto his head made it perfect.

He looked up when the door opened and called out a welcome to the newcomer.

"Welcome to the Pub."

Usually when Riley needs a drink, she hits up Coombs tavern or Watersong. But tonight she doesn't have the energy for Watersong and after putting in so many hours at Coombs & Co. on top of finishing up the museum for it's grand opening, she decides tonight she'd rather be somewhere different and not Coombs related.

With a tinge of guilt, she winces and pushes open the door of the Pub. Riley loves Moira and her family, she does, but sometimes a break is needed. A change. And she's heard wonderful things about the place so she knows this will be a nice break from her usual routines.

Taking a seat at the bar with a curious glance around the place, she smirks at the bartender and gives a little wave. "Hi. Can I get a glass of your favourite beer?" She's not picky and after the exhausting week, she'll drink anything, really.

Finn laughed and wandered over to where the woman sat. "Why is it that beautiful women always like to challenge me with impossible questions?" he asked her, grinning from ear to ear. "I have many favorites, probably too many, so how about this. You tell me if you like pale, bitter, spicy or sweet and I'll pick from that. Deal?"

Riley blushes slightly at the compliment, ducking her head. "Sorry," she smiles. "Guess your favourite depends on the day, huh? Spicy. Definitely spicy."

"It very much depends on the day, though I'll always make room for Guinness. That's amazing every day, but its not for everyone. So, let's try this," Finn trailed off, reaching into the beer fridge under the bar and pulling out a recent find.

"You like cinnamon?" he asked before he popped the bottle cap.

"Love cinnamon," she grins, watching him work. Riley leans onto the counter after depositing her bag into the seat next to her, comfortable with the atmosphere of the place. "One of my favourite ingredients to use, actually."

"Then you should have fun with this one," Finn told her as he popped the cap and poured it into a glass. "And if its not for you, don't be shy about telling me. Bar policy is to not charge if the bartender fucks up."

He slid the bottle over to her then picked up his coffee cup and sipped, waiting for the verdict.

"Honesty is the best policy." Riley takes the glass with a thanks and sips at the beer a few times before glancing back at the bartender with a smile.

"Mmm. Oh yeah. This is a good one." She takes another drink, enjoying the flavour. "The cinnamon definitely makes it."

"To your health then," Finn grinned and toasted her with his coffee cup. "Glad you like it. I've got about a 75% average when it comes to picking beer out for people, and it seriously sucks when I get it wrong. Makes me feel like a failure of a bartender. So thank you, for helping support my fragile ego by enjoying the beer."

He managed, barely, to keep from outright grinning like an idiot.

"75%?" she asks, taking another sip before setting the glass down on the bar. "Impressive. Given my 35% while bartending at Watersong part time. I'm god-awful at recommending drinks unless they're designed to help with your health."

Riley matches his grin. "Of course! I'm very good supporting fragile egos. If you ever need a pep talk, I'm your gal."

Finn had heard of Watersong, of course, but he'd only been in once to scope the place out. He hadn't had the best feeling about the place, so he hadn't stayed long. He still wasn't sure why it hadn't sit right with him, but he'd stayed away because he knew better than to ignore his instincts.

"I'll remember that, thanks," he told her and extended a hand towards her. "I'm Finn. Good to meet you."

"Riley." She takes his hand with a firm shake before letting it go, returning to finish off her drink. "Nice to meet you as well. I really like your place. Seems like a food fit for Siren Cove."

"Thanks," Finn returned. "I've never once regretted my decision to set up here. Just something about this town, you know? Felt like home the first time I came here to scout locations."

"It does have that homey vibe to it. Even with all the drama," she muses, tilting her head. "So not a Siren Cove native, huh?"

"Nope, born and raised in South Boston, though I did live one excruciating summer in New York City. How about you?"

He was still new enough to not know the natives over the imports like himself, but it was getting a little easier. "And..sorry, drama? I think I missed the drama."

"That bad huh? Not a native either. My family moved here about five years ago from a small town in Ohio. It's home to us though."

Riley lifts an eyebrow and can't help the smile that takes over her face. "You missed the drama? Oh don't worry, Finn, there will be plenty of drama for you to join in soon enough, I'm sure. Siren Cove is exciting, to put it nicely. For example, half of us went on a cruise last summer and ended up stranded on a deserted island."

"Now there's something you don't hear every day," Finn commented. "I mean, I remember hearing little about that when I was renovating this place, but to be honest, I didn't pay a lot of attention. I was too busy refinishing floors and painting for that. Were you one of the deserted or one of the left behind?"

"I can understand that. Hard to pay attention to any of the outside world when you're renovating." She'd been sucked into a social black hole with the whole museum thing. "I was a deserted. It was...interesting? Lot of very angry and annoyed people."

"I'd say depending on where you go on vacation you'll get a lot of that, but deserted island would definitely add another aspect of fun on top of it," Finn replied with sarcasm so heavy it was practically dripping off his words.

"Oh, so much fun," she smiles. "Nothing like reliving the pilot episode of Lost!"
