Finn cleared the last of the dishes from the dinner rush and carted them into the kitchen for Tandy, laughing when she asked if he'd been demoted to busser.
That chore done, he headed back into the bar to do a walk around, checking with those in the game room and those at the tables and booths scattered around the bar area. He joked with a few of the regulars and greeted the faces he couldn't remember seeing before taking his position behind the bar again.
Leaning against the back counter, he surveyed his pub and couldn't help the smile that formed. For as much flak as he'd received from his family over his choosing such a small town when he finally struck out on his own, he really did love the town. The atmosphere was open, accepting, and the sheer fact that he could use his abilities without causing the National Enquirer to drop onto his head made it perfect.
He looked up when the door opened and called out a welcome to the newcomer.
"Welcome to the Pub."

Date: 2015-03-03 02:16 pm (UTC)Finn snorted. "Yeah, that's not going to happen. Like ever. But I do have the outfit I wore when I helped run the stall at a Renaissance Faire near Boston for a few years. I'd love to pull that back out. I can probably even get the servers in on it, too. I'd just need a few week's notice so I can let the regulars know. Don't want to shock a few of them who stumble in already lit and make them think they stepped back in time."

Date: 2015-03-03 02:24 pm (UTC)"Really," Finn nodded then, because he couldn't help it, he added, "I'd only charge a few thousand for the pub rental."
He managed to keep his poker face in place for the most part, but he knew how badly he sucked at bluffing, and that the twinkle in his eyes probably gave away that he was teasing.

Date: 2015-03-03 04:19 pm (UTC)"Seriously. You would be a great distraction to take to Vegas and count cards with though." She said with a grin. "A great patsy."

Date: 2015-03-03 05:49 pm (UTC)"You mean I'm the one the gangsters are beating up while you're back at the table, cleaning up on chips? Thanks, but I think I'll pass on that," Finn returned, laughing with her. He caught the look from one of his servers and sent her a bar rag to clean up a spill on the table using his powers. "So, apart from a LARP tavern, was there anything else that sent you in here tonight desperate for a dessert beer?"

Date: 2015-03-03 05:52 pm (UTC)Finn nodded and pointed to the TV above the bar. "Just switched it on knowing you'd be in for it, though I'd be careful saying that around this group. Half of them would cheer on their worst enemy for a free beer." Which he totally didn't mean, because he didn't cater to a lot of the power drinker type. There was a sign above his bar, very prominently, that said he had the right to refuse service. A right he used whenever the need arose.
"You want the usual?" he asked, looking towards the draft sticks.

Date: 2015-03-03 07:10 pm (UTC)"I'd cut you in!" Lee laughed and pointed at her glass at his question. "Beer was closer to me here than the beer in my apartment was." She said. "And I only have studying and marking to go home to so I'm not in a rush."

Date: 2015-03-03 07:34 pm (UTC)"Hang on a second, Finn is about to bend over and it's the highlight of my evening." Keira murmured, leaning against Aoife but not turning just yet so she could watch Finn's ass. Smiling, she finally turned to face Aoife and smiled at her bestie. "Hey cutie, of course you find me in the best pub our tiny town has with the hottest bar owner. What can I do you for? Girl talk? Is it girl talk?"

Date: 2015-03-03 07:37 pm (UTC)"There's a magical kama sutra, there's about two hundred copies left in existence, and I have one of them. And have read it cover to cover," Keira replied, raising a smug eyebrow at him just to provoke him a little. Laughing she took her beer and raised it to her lips. "Do you want to know what's involved in it or would you rather experience it?"

Date: 2015-03-03 07:46 pm (UTC)That was, of course, until Her foot caught one of the bar stools and she pitched forward to rain half her beer on the bar right beside some poor guy.
"Shit, I'm so sorry!"

Date: 2015-03-03 07:50 pm (UTC)"Works for me, and definitely works for my bottom line," he replied with a wink. "What are you studying? And should I berate myself for contributing to the delinquency of a student by giving her really good beer and the potential ability to scam Vegas casinos?"

Date: 2015-03-03 08:03 pm (UTC)"I'd never, ever survive the practical demonstration, love," Finn replied with an audible sigh, "but I have a feeling I'd die with a rather large smile on my face. Why don't you tell me one little thing and we'll see if my heart can stand the torture?"

Date: 2015-03-03 08:10 pm (UTC)"Oh, I don't know. I think you're the kind of guy to stand up to the challenge," Keira replied before pointing to a customer who wanted something from one of the low shelves. She did so enjoy watching Finn bend over, it was always spectacular to watch. "Well, one of the positions keeps the man on the point of orgasm for hours but never quite tipping him over. The attuned stones you need for the spell aspect then helps other couples in rites of fertility."

Date: 2015-03-03 08:43 pm (UTC)"Do you want it to be girl talk? Are you going to share something intimate and sweet over a big glass of beer?"

Date: 2015-03-03 08:49 pm (UTC)"Teaching. IT specifically." Lee said, smiling hopefully and offering her empty glass to him looking for a refill. "You're not contributing to anything. I'm a straight B+ student, I'll have you know. And I only scam casinos on weekends."

Date: 2015-03-03 09:40 pm (UTC)"Yeah, I'd rather not take that position if its all the same," Finn commented with an exaggerated shudder after he straightened up and slid the bowl of bar nuts over to the guy. "I'm all about prolonging things for everyone's fun and enjoyment, but hours on the brink? That sounds more like torture to me."

Date: 2015-03-03 09:41 pm (UTC)"Good to know. I'd hate to have that kind of karma following me around."
Finn moved off to make a table's drinks, close out a few tabs, and call back an order to the kitchen before returning to Lee. "Ready for another, or is this a one-beer night for you?"

Date: 2015-03-04 02:15 am (UTC)"I'm sorry for that," Finn said with real sympathy because as far as he was from his family now, he still called home often and went home at least once a month to see everyone. "For both the regrets and that your mother's denying herself this little beauty in her life." He gave the baby a little bounce and rock, making her giggle again. "Her loss, to my mind."

Date: 2015-03-04 02:24 am (UTC)"That's the best part about being the boss. I can spend as much time as I want, wherever I want, and yell at the employees if they do." Finn grinned in such a way that said he rarely yelled at anyone, and especially not for spending too much time with the customers.
